We do apologize for this undesired behavior.
What happens is when we migrated the data from the old website, messages that were marked as ‘new’ appear in the Messages Inbox with the background of the message is high-lighted blue (see below).
When you clicked on the message, it marks the email as ‘read’ in the database (turning the background white).
The thing is, on the old website you could actually read the whole message without clicking on it, so to the database the message is actually still new and unread and sends you the notification.
Sorry about the confusion on this. We have tested thoroughly and messages are being sent and received as expected.
