Normal CrashPad vs. Semi-Private vs. Private Rooms

How to price your CrashPad…

Traditional / normal CrashPads generally go for between $200 – $400 per bed and have bunk-beds.

Aircrew generally pay for amenities and distance from the airport. They are looking for convenience and affordability.

I once stayed in one CrashPad that had 5 bunk beds (10 spots) in 1 room. 😳 But as most CrashPaders know, there was never more than 2 – 3 people there at the same time.

Pilots will often pay more for a private or semi-private room, as they more often make much more money than the flight attendants.

Single Bed vs Bunk Beds

Let’s run through the numbers together….🤓

If someone is trying to rent a private or semi-private room for let’s say $500. That’s $500 bucks income IF you can rent the room.

If you put in 2 bunk beds (4 spots) in each room and charged $275 per spot, that would be $1,100 per room.

* 120% more revenue with bunk-beds over a single bed.

Listing Whole Property

Be careful how you list the pricing. If CrashPad Seekers see a price like $950 or $1,500 they will most likely scroll past your place! 😬

If you are trying to rent an entire apartment you should NOT put the rent amount for the entire CrashPad, use the Price Range.

Put the Price From: as how much 1 bed would be, and Price To: as the rental amount for the whole property.

“Charging by the night

For CrashPads that charge by the night. This is not as common as you would think.

It sounds like a good idea, like booking a hotel room, but generally people don’t want random visitors showing up their property.

So in practice CrashPad owners or property managers will often have, let’s call it a “membership fee” to be a “member” of the CrashPad (after employment ID, basic rental lease or whatever have been established) and then pay by the night.
